Dear Friend,
Z. Micah Kaplan here, and it is my privilege to be this year’s Chair of Eastern Long Island Hospital (ELIH) Foundation Board of Directors. Since 1905, our small community hospital has served and saved countless lives each year. When I was given the opportunity to join the ELIH Foundation, I immediately knew it was something that I could do, and in some small way, serve by giving back to the community where I have lived and loved raising my family. For my fellow Foundation members to choose me as this year’s Chair is an immense honor and an immense responsibility.
Our Foundation consists of volunteers in and around the North Fork and Shelter Island who strive to provide financial support and promote ELIH Foundation as an integral component of our rural community’s health care system.
Gifts to our Foundation provide the financial resources and flexibility to support a variety of wide-ranging programs and services as well as the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment and new technology. These gifts are the building blocks of our philanthropic efforts, supporting the day-to-day work of Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital (SBELIH).
Last year we were able to support our community by enhancing our healthcare portfolio with many new pieces of innovative technology. These include a OEC Elite Surgical Imaging C-Arm to enhance our operative procedures; all new Intravenous Fluid Pumps for the hospital; and all new patient care stretchers. We also renovated our Behavioral Health Recreation Room and ER Waiting Room, started a new Wound Care Center and were able to modernize our Diagnostic Radiology Center with all new equipment and new rooms. As a result of these advances, our physicians here at SBELIH were able to transform and empower the hospital’s delivery of care.
Together, we are grateful for your ongoing generosity, and please know: every dollar raised through ELIH Foundation remains local, to benefit your hospital and the community it serves.
